Our History
We are small professional joinery shop borne out of over 100 years and four generations of experience, working on period, historic and listed building on the south coast of England and the Isle of Wight. Our work required the manufacture of many forms of joinery, from direct replacements of doors and windows, to all other types of traditional joinery.
Our previous work included undertaking all aspects of construction, stone masonry, ground works, electrical and plumbing. We specialized in the refurbishment and conversion of existing buildings, these being either repurposed for alternate use or restored to their former glory.
Now since 2022 we focus on providing joinery and carpentry services across the Isle of Wight.
Our Woodland
We are fortunate to have ownership of a historic ancient broadleaf woodland that was once a part of Queen Victoria's Osborne Estate. This woodland holds a significant piece of history as it contains the carriage way that connected Osborne House with Whippingham Train Station, exclusively for the use of the Queen's ministers of state. The carriage way, adorned with majestic oaks, still exists today, showcasing the resilience and beauty of nature.
Our belief is cantered around sustainable woodland practices, where self-regeneration is prioritized, and timber usage is carefully managed without excessive felling. In line with this philosophy, our commissioned and bespoke pieces may incorporate timber from our very own woodland, subject to design and timber selection.
As a testament to our commitment, we have created the Woodlands Collection, which features items designed and crafted by us, using timber grown on the Isle of Wight. These unique pieces can be explored and purchased on our dedicated sister site.
